Hey I have a DBL Cab 2010 Prerunner and that manual rear window was just well-nigh useless. So I looked at the available window from CR Lawrence and didn't want to drop that corporeality of coin, plus when you pull out a glued in window y'all scratch the heck out of the window frame, so I found another mode it but cost me $115.00 dollars. I bought a mini linear actuator with a 12 inch stroke and a momentary on/off/on switch. It but so happens that the slider drinking glass only travels nigh 12.125 inches. The linear actuator was capable of moving 8lbs and the rate of travel was one.5in/sec. So information technology opens and closes at a decent pace. The actuator isn't visible from inside the cab, information technology tucks behind the upper border of the rear seat. it works like a champ.... The but effect is the actuator is a picayune noisy, but I effigy I can handle it for near 8 seconds. Has anybody else came up with a way to open up and shut the rear window?

How did you deal with the snapping mechanism? Not sure what yous call it, but when the window snaps closed and then yous can't open up information technology from the exterior?

Non really needed since the actuator would hold the window closed and would brand it hard to manually slide it open.

any reason you chose to have the actuator extended when the window is open? seems similar it would less obstrusive if information technology were retracted when the window was open.

How do you lot bargain with locking the window? I'thou pretty certain you can forcefulness one of those actuators open when power isn't going to it. if power is going to it, it would kill your bombardment over night and then opening it would be just as easy.

The actuator simply has ability going to it when the switch is depressed. The design of the actuator is an acme thread which is not easily forced; information technology would be easier to break the window. I chose to have the actuator fully airtight when the window was closed due to the flexibility of the actuator when information technology's fully extended (it is rigid only not as rigid as you lot might think). This way when I am out billowy down the road the actuator isn't billowy into the window. So if the window was open when the actuator is extended the bouncing effectually won't make any noise as the window is open up and there is cipher for it to bounce against. Well that was my thought process; I looked at it both ways. All I can say is it was pretty like shooting fish in a barrel, didn't pause the bank and it really works.
